Abdul Salaam:
Abdul is 15 years old, he became a resident of mercy
alive Africa shelter in August 2014 after being picked from Kivulu slums
during the outreach activities. He had fever and physical wounds on his
body especially on the legs which were dressed. Abdul used to move
barefooted to collect scrap.
While at mercy Alive Africa shelter,
Abdul was interested in drawing and reading plus playing football, after
observing his characters, he was re-united with his family in April 2015 at Kasubi a suburb of Kampala city.
Immediately started his studies at Kasubi Primary school in Primary
four, Mercy Alive Africa volunteers always visited Abdul at both his
home and at school to make sure that he is well and enjoys school.
Unfortunately during the previous second term holidays, his aunt at home
started abusing him which involved beatings and verbal assaults, Abdul
run away from their home and went back to the streets in Kivulu slums
which are just three kilometers away from their home in Kasubi, we met
Abdul again during our recent outreach programs and shared his stories
with the volunteers he has since then expressed his great interest to go
back to school and meet with his family but efforts to be done to
persuade his aunt to love and care for him as a child.
