Mercy Alive Africa 26th/09/2015 Saturday Outreach Program:
With the aim to proclaim children from the streets of Kampala, Mercy Alive Africa uses several approaches to tackle this problem including the Saturday outreach program. Today’s outreach program started at exactly 7:00am in the morning when the street kids from the slums around Kampala were arriving at Katwe Primary School play-groundwhile the volunteers had started preparing the day’s activities starting with cooking.
It’s been a great experience even though there has been some obstacles,
we are happy that the volunteers showed their good team work skills
when moments such the water shortage in the area and the school teachers
who had wanted to cancel the event, arose!
The event was graced with a prayer by one of the former street kid Ian who is currently under the care and support of Mercy Alive Africa shelter, activities such as playing soccer, games, washing clothes and bathing, bible class, medical care to the street kids, prayers followed as planed in the program.
It’s still sad and hurting to see many of the boys addicted to drugs and use aviation fuel, This makes it hard because many of them are very depressed and lonely. Many of them say “They use the drugs mainly to escape coldness and to feel stronger” we pray for the community to also come in on this.
Much thanks to our visiting friends from the United Kingdom Alice and Peter the time you have spent with these street kids is priceless and the words of wisdom have been encouraging and motivationalwe shall always pray for your kindness.
The gift of medical supplies have relieved the pain on their wounds, the remaining medical items will be used for the outreach programs.
